Field project placement

I received an email from Dr. Hammond that there is an opportunity to participate in GIS system in Broughal middle school, if I am capable to do that work. I have already sent an e-mail to Dr. Hammond about my stage of GIS knowledge. Actually I would like to involve in any map related project. Now I am waiting for Dr. Hammond’s reply.

Access to a K12 classroom:

I do not have any access to a classroom and I need help getting matched up with a classroom. Right now I am not sure about the project, because I don’t know much about US curriculum.

Brainstorm:

I would like to work with a social studies teacher in a school, particularly in a middle school. As a cartographic background I would like to work with maps and GIS software as a map making tool, if the school has an access to this software. I would like to work with the teacher and students with the geographic data entries and calculations with the help of Microsoft Excel. Otherwise, I would like to introduce teachers and students about blogs and wiki tool and how they can express their thoughts and ideas in these environments as collaborating tools. I also can help a social studies teacher how to make an interactive educational website with the help of Dream weaver. I also help students to make their own movies with the help of movie editing software. Students can publish their own podcasts ( audio and video) with the help of garageband and imovie.
